[ SSCI  Q1  IF 4.232]

Journal: Frontiers in Psychology

Author: Dou, X., Dou, X., Jia, L. (2022)

DOI: 10.3389/fpsyg.2022.939672

Abstract:

With the existing research available on negative and malevolent creativity, this paper proposes a more narrowly defifined concept: the bi-directional relationship between negative and malevolent creative thinking, which is intended to clarify the way forward for research in the area of negative and malevolent creativity. This paper uses qualitative research to identify and correlate an individual’s concept of negative and malevolent creativity and uses a Inductive reasoning methodology to outline a preliminary theory. Following this, the preliminary theory was returned to the primary sources for validation, continuous optimization, and presentation. To better demonstrate the bidirectional linkage mechanism of thinking between the two types, this paper constructed a model to describe the relationships between the variables. This study concludes that negative creative thinking is a kind of native thinking based on personal interests that are developed to emphasize the benefifits of an individual’s interests, while malevolent creative thinking is a kind of native thinking based on the value-added of personal interests and is deliberately harmful. Both types of thinking share a value orientation, environmental stimulation, and subjective motivation. However, they differ in terms of value goals, ways of thinking, and the scale of the subject. It is concluded from the intrinsic thinking logic of individual thinking as well as the temporal dimension of the individual creative process that value-added and intentions to exploit others are factors that drive the transformation of negative creative thinking into malevolent creative thinking, and personal intention is a vital factor for establishing a linkage between negative and malevolent creative thinking.

[ SSCI  Q2  IF 3.106]

Journal: Thinking Skills and Creativity

Author: Dou, X., Li, H., & Jia, L. (2021)

DOI: 10.1016/j.tsc.2021.100896

Abstract:

Research on creative thinking and innovative thinking has received scholarly attention, but a singular type of thinking mainly was conducted without a clear definition of the two. The creative and innovative thinking ability of choreographers positively correlates with the quality of dance creation. Improvisational dance has a creative connotation due to its randomness and uncertainty and is, therefore, it is an essential practice for evaluating dancers’ creativity. The cultivation of creativity through improvisation and the creative and innovative thinking it embodies has been widely researched. The specific mode of thinking in dance creation is dominated by image thinking and supplemented by abstract thinking. Improvisational dance also follows a specific mode of thinking for dance. Creative thinking is an original nature of thinking that emphasises originality, divergence and appropriateness, belongs to image thinking. Innovation thinking is a kind of regenerative thinking based on the application and popularisation of new technologies and products, which emphasises both social and economic benefits, and which aims to add value in terms of value addition; innovation thinking is part of abstract thinking. The theories of the linkage between creative and innovative thinking have been put forward, where the two ways of thinking are intertwined and linked in the actual thinking process, with the product as the linking node. However, the linkage between creative thinking and innovative thinking is only theoretical, with a lack of empirical research. This study takes innovation and creativity as the research perspective. It establishes a limited improvisation dance group and an unlimited improvisation dance group to explore the difference between different improvisation forms on improving innovative and creative ability and providing the optimal choice for developing creative thinking and innovative thinking linkage ability through empirical research. The experimental data indicate that the different forms of improvisation in both groups positively affect innovative and creative ability, but limited improvisation has a slightly more significant effect. Although unlimited improvisation also promotes the development of innovative and creative ability, there is also the potential to hinder innovative and creative ability. As a result of the study, limited improvisation dance is the optimal choice for developing the ability to link creative thinking and innovative thinking. Based on the findings, suggestions for the feasibility of developing the ability to link creative thinking with innovative thinking linkage are also given in this paper.

[ SSCI  Q2  IF 3.2.99]

Journal: Frontiers in Psychology

Author: Dou, X., Jia, L., & Ge, J. (2021)

DOI: 10.3389/fpsyg.2021.663223

Abstract:

Dance creation involves complex psychological activities. Although previous studies have conducted extensive investigations on the psychological aspects of choreographers’ creations, little is known regarding the psychological barrier of choreographers in terms of creativity. The study aims to explore the psychological barrier of innovation in dance choreography, which is a kind of situation between mental illness and mental problems. The research shows that improvisational dance is a free dance with the human body as a material carrier, and it is a dance form that the dancer’s thinking is transformed into dance action to express their inner thoughts. The improvement of the potential creative thinking of dance creators through the improvisational dance movement and structure are explored. Meanwhile, the theoretical ideas of psychologists have been applied to the cultivation and improvement of improvisational dance creativity, which has made full certification and supplement. Moreover, through psychological experiments, it is proved that improvisational dance is an important way to release and develop creativity. Based on the theory of psychology, feasible suggestions are given to improve students’ creative ability in the process of improvisational dance teaching.

Abstract:

Compared to other disciplines in school, dance is one of the last disciplines to embrace the application of technology. However, there have been many successful works on the application of technology in the creation of dance practices. According to the clear requirements of the Ministry of Education for education information technology funding and the trend of increasing education funding year by year in the past five years in all regions, funding is no longer a reason to hinder the digitalization and intelligence of dance choreography professional talent training. So the attitude and lack of widespread environment are the main reasons that hinders the digitalization and intelligence of dance creation and education. The practice of AI technology application by the pioneers of dance art shows that technology is just a tool for dance creation, a tool for exploring possible movements and finding inspiration from the movement sequences automatically generated in real time. AI_am's interdisciplinary project provides further insight into the realization and popularisation of AI and dance education.
